Were Booing Fans Unfair On Madonna?
In a YouTube video, concert goers can be heard to be shouting, 'Rembourssez! Rembourssez!' in unison, which means, 'Re-pay'. Some audience members even called the Queen of Pop a 'sl*t' in French and threw things like empty bottles on to the stage, according to the UK's Sun newspaper. The cost of tickets for the gig ranged from 80 euros to 280 euros. It was a last minute addition to the Mdna tour intended as a small, intimate gig with 2,500 people at the Olympia Club and was even billed as a 45 minute long show according to some reports, which suggests the angry response was due to fans neglecting to read the small print. The live streaming of the show received more dislikes than likes on YouTube as well of a mountain of abuse that caused the channel administrators to disable further comments.
It seemed that the addition was made in order for Madonna to make a public apology for suggestions that she mocked France's National Front leader Marine Le Pen by flashing a swastika on her head in a video in the background of one of her shows. 'I know that I have made a certain Marine Le Pen very angry with me', she told the crowd. 'It's not my intention to make enemies.'
