Weinstein Holds Out Olive Branch To Rudin
The pair battled over when to release the actress' new movie The Reader, which they both worked on. Weinstein wanted a December (08) release, so the film would be eligible for Academy Award nominations, but Rudin tried to hold it back until 2009, so it wouldn't clash with his other collaboration with Winslet, Revolutionary Road.
When Weinstein insisted on a 10 December (08) release, Rudin withdrew his name from the movie's credits.
But the former Miramax boss is keen to repair the rift, and insisted on thanking Rudin at the film's New York release party on Wednesday night (03Dec08).
He said, "I'd like to do something that isn't a very popular thing to do, which is to thank Scott Rudin for all his hard work on this film."
