Weiland's Emotional Message To Fans

SCOTT WEILAND connected with fans at a STONE TEMPLE PILOTS gig in Texas on Sunday night (19Sep10) by giving an emotional speech about his drug addiction and marriage breakdown.
The singer has struggled with substance abuse over the last few years and battled heroin addiction before finally getting sober.
Weiland is adamant he's now clean and while onstage with his band at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Woodlands, Texas, he told fans how he had been affected by his past problems, as well as his painful split from his second wife, Mary Forsberg, in 2007.
The former Velvet Revolver star also insists he is determined to "take care" of himself for the sake of the band.
He told the crowd, "I believe in music, I believe in rock 'n roll, I believe in friendship and family. But you know what, on the 8th December will be time (sic) when I stopped doing dope... I started drinking again. I got divorced, my wife... And my whole world basically spun around and so you know what, I'm gonna take care of myself (now) because that's what I need to take care of... Instead of just having a few shows, I wanna have a whole hell of a lot of shows."

Man can I relate to this dude! I've always been an STP fan. Relate to the intensity of the music. I battled with alcohol for years, Enihilated EVERYTHING!,family , friends, God esspecially. It is truley a "disease" that will kill Scott and myself. Good news is that with work, it can be put into remission, lives restored, ect..... God bless you folks that are trying to battle the Dark Side. Keep comin back!!!!

I was at that concert. He was supposed to come on at 9pm but didn't arrive and start playing till almost 10:30. I will never attend another STP concert again- what a waste of money. I've got friends who work at the pavilion where the concert was- they said he wasn't even in Texas- he wa on a plane from LA- geez Scott, you can't even show up to a concert on time- thousands of people were anticipating an amazing performance and you gave us crap. You were so *%cked up we could barely understand what you were saying. Next time you are late to a show don't bother trying to tell the crowd about your pathetic life- just sing your damn songs!

Scott...you will find your center. I read Mary's book & I saw such a empty soul. You do need to take care of "YOU". Then you will see how strong & good of a person you are.You have two beautiful kids...show them a healthy dad. They need you.Scott...you're tired...your body is trying to tell you as well as your mind.Take care..one of your fans...

To bad I saw the band in Minneapolis and he and the band were amazing!! I have heard he has "stumbled" quite a few times during this tour. I agree with the other posters... give a top notch show on time. You owe EVERYTHING to the fans when you are on tour and showing up late and wasted is complete BS. Get your life in order or do us all a favor and hang it up!
