'We Were Friends For a Year and a Half Before Any Dates": Beyonce Opens Up About Marriage to Jay-Z With Oprah

In a continuing incredible year for Beyonce, she's broadening her career even further, not just in regard to the return for Destiny's Child and a new track with them, but also personally. With a largely self-directed and self-filmed documentary on the way, as well as an in-depth interview with Oprah set to air this week, we're finally about to find out a little more about Beyonce Knowles, as reported by the Daily Mail. 

"I would not be the woman I am if I did not go home to that man," she stated to Oprah about Jay Z, in an interview set to air Saturday (February 16, 2013). Having been together for over ten years, married for almost 5, and now sharing a daughter, there are few celebrity relationships that have managed to stay so sturdy. The relationship "just gives me such a foundation," she said, adding that he's helped her "on so many levels."

So, does Bey have any advice for us in regard to creating a lasting relationship? "We were friends first, for a year and a half before we'd went on any date, on the phone for a year and a half. That foundation is so important in a relationship," she said. "Just to have someone that you just like, you know? Someone that is honest." 

It's not just in her relationship that she's hitting a home run, she loves her career, is utterly beautiful, has a happy and healthy daughter and managed to perform just three months after giving birth - that's some serious resilience!
