Washington Had To Be Talked Into Attending Oscars
Denzel Washington almost missed out on his big night at the 2002 Oscars - because he didn't feel like mingling with celebrities after shooting harrowing movie HURRICANE, for which he was nominated.
The actor had to be talked into attending the Academy Awards after stubbornly insisting he wouldn't be a part of the party.
He tells Entertainment Weekly magazine, "I didn't want to go... After Hurricane, I was like, 'I don't feel like dealing with these people, I'm just not going to go.'
"In order to protect yourself, you almost have to not care. So that night I didn't care - and of course they go, 'Here.'"
