19 November 2012Was This The Week That Christopher Maloney Won The X Factor?
Sigh. Another week on The X Factor, another half decent singer eliminated, another 7 billion votes for the awful Christopher Maloney. The Liverpudlian was saved yet again during Sunday's results show (November 18, 2012) at the expense of Ella Henderson, the accomplished singer who was the odds-on favourite to win the competition.
It was Maloney who once again breezed through into the next round, with some reports suggesting the crooner is receiving double the amount of votes of his fellow contestants. Most bookmakers now have Jahmene Douglas as the new frontrunner though all signs appear to point towards Maloney winning this year's prize. Of last night's shock result that also saw James Arthur in the bottom two, Ladbrokes' spokesperson Alex Donohue said, "This was one of the biggest TV betting upsets of all time. Jahmene was the big winner and he's now in pole position for X Factor glory. The purists will be leading a campaign to bring back Ella. Sadly for her, the odds suggest the show is more likely to be cancelled." This year's show has descended into farce, with Maloney and the token 'rubbish act' Rylan Clark making it through each week with ease. Henderson was priced at a massive 33/1 to be eliminated on Sunday, though she soon found herself in the bottom two and was duly booted out via the deadlock vote. Judge Nicole Scherzinger described the result as "a great tragedy for the show," while Ella's mentor Tulisa suggested the public had assumed Henderson was safe and therefore decided against picking up the phone.
X Factor head honcho tweeted of his disbelief at the result, telling followers, "Ella! Gone??? Unbelievable."
