Warner Bros. has decided to delay the release of its films in Hungary after determining that a number of them that turned up on the Internet immediately after they were released were camcorded by pirates working out of theaters in that country. TorrentFreak.com, which tracks BitTorrent activity, speculated on Sunday that the studio had probably used secret watermarks to discover the source of the bootlegged video. In the case of the recent The Hangover Part II , it noted that while the original video had little appeal because it was dubbed in Hungarian, pirates in the U.S. were easily able to record the English soundtrack and sync it with the Hungarian video. In addition to delaying the release of its films in Hungary, TorrentFreak reported, Warner Bros. has reportedly banned midnight screenings in the country, "presumably since these quieter times are more popular with cammers [pirates using camcorders]."
