Warner Bros. Tv In Deal With Abc.com, Hulu
Warner Bros. Television has agreed to allow any of the shows it sells to ABC to be available on ABC.com and on Hulu the day after they are broadcast. Each episode will continue to remain on line for five weeks. The deal is somewhat unusual inasmuch as WBTV, a unit of Time Warner, is not one of the three media conglomerates that control Hulu. (The three include Disney/ABC, News Corp./Fox, and Comcast/NBC/Universal.) Terms of the deal were not disclosed, and it was not known whether any cash will be exchanged. Craig Hunegs, EVP of WBTV, said in the studio's statement announcing the deal, that it "makes it easier than ever for viewers to watch their favorite shows, it helps expand the ABC platform and ultimately it makes our series more valuable."
