Whitney Houston - Walk Of Fame Officials Re-consider Whitney Houston Star
Hollywood Chamber of Commerce officials are hoping to pay tribute to late superstar Whitney Houston with a belated star unveiling - if her family is willing.
The I Will Always Love You singer was selected for the honour in 1995 but a date for a Walk of Fame ceremony was never requested by her representatives and the offer expired in 2000.
Following her death on Saturday (11Feb12), the officials are considering "re-instating the status of the star" - if it is desired by her family.
Hollywood Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez tells WENN, "It is up to the family and or representatives to connect with the Hollywood Chamber regarding the issue of a star ceremony. At this time we believe that the family should be left to grieve for their dearly departed.
"At such time as they are ready, we would be open to discussions about setting a date to immortalise the legendary Whitney Houston with a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame."
Martinez released the statement on Monday (13Feb12) after fielding questions about the placement of Houston's non-existent star.
