Dancehall star Vybz Kartel has been acquitted in the 2011 shooting murder of a businessman in his native Jamaica.
The Pon De Floor hitmaker, real name Adidja Palmer, has been on trial with two fellow defendants, accused of killing 27-year-old Barrington Burton on the streets of St. Catherine in July, 2011, but on Wednesday (24Jul13), the jury at the Jamaica Home Circuit Court ruled the trio was not guilty of the slaying.
However, the 37-year-old star has yet to regain his freedom - he remains in custody facing a second charge of murder relating to the stabbing death of Clive Williams in the parish of St. Andrew in August, 2011.
The two other suspects were released.
