Vipers Singer Booker Dies
THE VIPERS frontman JOHNNY BOOKER has died aged 72.
The veteran singer, who passed away on 19 March (07), formed skiffle band The Vipers in England in 1956 and the group scored a succession of hit singles in the next two years, many of which were engineered by future BEATLES producer SIR GEORGE MARTIN.
Booker suffered from deteriorating health in his later years and was confined to a wheelchair. He died in Vancouver, Canada, where he lived.
