Viola Davis - Viola Davis Ready To Whoop Meryl Steep At Oscars?

Viola Davis appears to be in a fighting mood ahead of her upcoming battle with Meryl Streep at the Oscars in February 2012. Streep is tipped to take home the prize for Best Actress for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in 'The Iron Lady', but Davis has generated a healthy fan-base of her own ahead of the ceremony in Los Angeles.
Davis, who is nominated for her role in drama 'The Help', joked with Cnn's Showbiz Tonight that she's ready to take on Streep, saying, "Friendly competition - although, I can whoop Meryl Streep's behind in a good, old fashioned street fight. Now, as far as the Oscars, I'm not sure about that". On a serious note, Viola described Meryl as someone she "loves more than anyone", but is still holding out for a win at the Academy Awards. Viola has already landed a string of awards for her role in The Help, including the North Texas Film Critics Award for Best Actress, the Satellite Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture and the Santa Barbara International Film Festival Award for Outstanding Performance. Crucially though, she lost out to Meryl Streep at the recent Golden Globes.
Some of her other notable film roles including Traffic (2000), Antwone Fisher (2002) and Solaris (2002). Others joining Davis and Streep in the category for Best Actress at the Oscars include Michelle Williams and ROONEY MARA.
