Victoria Beckham's British inspiration
Victoria Beckham's latest collection was inspired by her move back to Britain.
The fashion designer - who, along with husband David and their four children, left Los Angeles last year to live in London - showcased her autumn/winter 2013-14 range at New York Fashion Week yesterday (10.02.13) and the tailored cashmere coats, elegant tuxedo suits and graphic intarsia knits paid homage to her new life.
She said: ''I am spending a lot more time in England now. And yes, I have become a bit of a material nerd. I've spent a lot of time in Europe, but it is about fabric, texture, British heritage tweeds and knitwear from Scotland - and I took a lot of inspiration from men's clothes.
''I prefer the word mannish. I wanted to translate those shapes into a feminine silhouette, so there is volume in the coats and that tuxedo shape, but turned into a gilet.''
Victoria once again won over the critics with her collection, which also features A-line skirts, sophisticated dresses, two new handbags while the shoes worn by the model were created by Manolo Blahnik.
Among those in the front row were husband David - who was seen looking after their 19-month-old daughter Harper backstage - and US Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
Other designers to show over the weekend Alexander Wang, Jason Wu, Zac Posen and Diane von Furstenberg.
