Velvet Underground - Velvet Underground Stars Sue Warhol Foundation Over Banana Logo
12 January 2012The rockers claim foundation bosses have illegally licensed the image for use on various products and they're accusing them of seeking to "deceive the public" into believing that the bandmates have given their "sponsorship or approval".
The band is seeking unspecified damages for trademark infringement and unfair competition.
Warhol was the band's manager and producer when he created the logo for the cover of the 1967 album.
The artist reportedly never copyrighted the image.
