Vedder & Pearl Jam Rock Austin All Weekend Long
PEARL JAM took over Austin, Texas at the weekend to celebrate their first number one U.S. album in 13 years with a trio of showstopping appearances.
Frontman Eddie Vedder kicked things off on Friday night (02Oct09) to perform with Kings of Leon at the Austin City Limits Music Festival and the group followed that up with an intimate club show in the city.
The exclusive concert at the 270-capacity KLRU studio was taped on Saturday night (03Oct09) for an upcoming TV special.
The event proved so popular that organisers had to stage a live simulcast of the showcase nearby for 800 fans who weren't able to get tickets in time.
Many of the fans in the audience at KLRU were Iraq war veterans invited to attend by the band.
The rockers concluded a magical Austin weekend by storming the stage at the Austin City Limits festival to headline Sunday night's (04Oct09) festivities - and provide the event's highlight.
