Vanilla Ice Denies Spat With Justin Bieber
Vanilla Ice has moved quickly to dismiss quotes that were attributed to him earlier this week, where he apparently claimed that Justin Bieber would 'be forgotten' after his teenage years. Vanilla Ice, who was catapulted to fame at a young age himself following the success of his single Ice Ice Baby in 1989, was quoted in the Huffington Post Canada saying that although he identified with Bieber, he felt that his career would go the same way as his own: "I mean, I did 'Ice Ice Baby' when I was 16. So I can kind of relate a bit," he says. "Sold over a hundred million records. And I had a weekend that lasted about three years, and I didn't know who I was, what's my purpose in life."
He went on to say: "So my prediction about Bieber is that he's going to go through one of those weekends that lasts a few years because he's had such success as a child act.You know, then something else new will come along and he'll be forgotten and he can try to put all the pieces back together, so it's going to be entertaining to watch." Ice, real name Rob Van Winkle, then released a statement to Access Hollywood denying the claims, and reaffirming his friendship with the pint-sized pop-star: "This is not a true quote, it's a flat out lie.I am friends with Justin Bieber and his family, I think he is talented and will be around for a long time." Vanilla then contacted the Huffington Post and said that although the is not denying the original remarks, they were taken out of context.
