Diana Princess Of Wales - V&a To Host Ballgown Exhibition

London's Victoria and Albert Museum is to play host to an exhibition of some of fashion's most-famous dresses.

The 'Ballgowns: British Glamour Since 1950' display will see dresses worn by the likes of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, Elizabeth Hurley and Sandra Bullock showcased.

Including designs dating as far back as the early fifties, the gowns featured will have been worn to a whole host of celebrity events, including the Golden Globes, British Fashion Awards and numerous film premieres.

Running from May 19 2012 to January 6 2013, the exhibition will also display dresses created by the likes of Dame Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen - who committed suicide in February 2010 - John Galliano and Norman Hartnell, who created pieces for both Queen Elizabeth and the Queen Mother.

It was recently revealed Alexander McQueen's 'Savage Beauty' exhibition - a display of the late designer's work - looks set to move to London.

A statement issued by the brand read: "Alexander McQueen appreciates the huge amount of interest the public has shown towards the 'Savage Beauty' exhibition.

"We have been in discussion with a number of major venues in London for some time now, however nothing has been confirmed."
