Usher - Usher Planned Amy Winehouse Track: What Would It Have Sounded Like?
Usher and Amy Winehouse were to record together, the r n'b star has revealed to Mtv News, explaining that it was only the singer's tragic death that prevented any such a collaboration from happening. The 32 year-old's latest album 'Looking 4 Myself' came out this week, but it could've been a whole different beast if something had come of the few meetings he'd had with the late London crooner.
"We met and we talked about it for a moment when I saw her," Usher said. "There was a few conversations that took place, but we never quite made it to it ... I would have loved it." He conversed with her a handful of times, including when the pair bumped into each whilst both shopping in London store Selfridges. "I was shopping and she was doing some private shopping and she came out and we kind of crossed each other's [paths] and, [I was like] 'Is that Amy Winehouse?'" he explained " And before you know it we talked and exchanged information and I invited her to a show ... and she didn't come."
Apparently Winehouse wasn't in the country at the time of the gig, and that missed connection is one that, Usher claims, has always rankled. "It could have been one of the most incredible records ever," he said. "A voice like that comes once in a lifetime."
