Us-uk Split At Kerrang! Awardsby Contributor | 09 August 2007
Enter Shikari and My Chemical Romance will be going head-to-head at this year's Kerrang! music awards after the nominations were announced last night.
The two bands are nominated in four categories, with the British outfit coming up against MCR in the best single, best album and best live band categories.
Enter Shikari, who emerged from St Albans just over 12 months ago, are also nominated for the best British band award.
Rou, from Enter Shikari, said: "Great to be nominated again, thanks to everyone that voted for us. Still shocked from being nominated last year really. Hopefully this time we won't have a show and can actually make the awards."
My Chemical Romance, now an established pop-rock crossover act in both the UK and the US, said Britain was now a "second home" for them.
The band's album, The Black Parade, is the favourite to take home the best LP award after spawning a number of hit singles.
Fellow US emo-rockers Fall Out Boy have also received a generous amount of nominations, including best album and best international band.
This year's awards will take place on August 23rd and 387,667 votes were cast by Kerrang! readers to come to a shortlist.
Deputy editor Daniel Lane said: "It's been a pretty incredible year for our music and the record number of votes and nominations we've received for this year's Kerrang! Awards proves that our readers are the most dedicated and passionate on the planet.
"It's also fantastic to see the number of British bands on the nominees list. And I guess the question on everyone's lips is: Can home-grown DIY rockers Enter Shikari defeat US emo heavyweights My Chemical Romance? We'll have to see on the night."
