A Man Believed To Be In His Early 30s Shot And Killed Himself At Popular Los Angeles Tourist Attraction Universal Studios On Friday (03apr15).
Reports suggest Andrew Thomas Jones walked into the themepark and took his life near a restaurant where his former girlfriend works as a waitress.
The shooting happened near the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem ride, shortly after Jones' ex, who has a child with the deceased, called security officers after spotting him at the themepark. Her restraining order prohibits Jones from contacting her.
Park officials contacted local police and when sheriff’s deputies responded and approached Jones, he pulled a gun from his rear pocket and shot himself in the head.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jones reportedly had two restraining orders issued against him after a pair of recent incidents at the themepark - he was accused of allegedly vandalising the unnamed woman’s car.
Themepark officials are investigating how Jones managed to get access to the tourist attraction on Good Friday with a gun.
