Uma Thurman - Uma Thurman Calls For Horn Of Africa Donations
Uma Thurman has urged her fans to donate cash to famine-hit Africa and help rally support for the region.
The Pulp Fiction actress has filmed a 30-second public service announcement (Psa) in a bid to publicise the ongoing problems in the Horn of Africa, insisting it is a bigger crisis than the 2010 Haiti earthquake and the Indonesian tsunami in 2004.
In the online clip, she says, "When tragedy struck Indonesia and Haiti, the world responded. The famine, war, and drought affecting the Horn of Africa right now is larger than both these crises combined, and the world should be paying attention. Text a donation of $10, but do more than that - forward the facts to everyone you know... We are the relief."
More than 230,000 people were killed when an earthquake in the Indian Ocean triggered a devastating tidal wave in 2004, and an estimate 316,000 perished in the Haiti quake.
