U2 Wow Crowd From Bbc Roof
Led by front man Bono, the Dublin four-piece emulated the Beatles in treating passing Londoners to a surprise show as they performed two old tracks and two from their latest release in their 20-minute slot.
From their album No Line On The Horizon, the band performed Get On Your Boots and Magnificent, in addition to well-known hits Vertigo and Beautiful Day to a 5,000-strong crowd gathered on The Streets below.
In a brief address before playing their new tracks Bono told the crowd it was "a great honour", adding: "This is the first time we've played these songs to people, so we hope we don't screw it up."
The band had earlier been on Radio 1 to promote what will be their 12th studio album when it is released on Monday.
