U2 Drop Glastonbury Hints

U2 have hinted they will headline next year's Glastonbury festival.

The Irish rockers - who were forced to pull out of their first-ever appearance at the famous UK music event after frontman Bono injured his back - alerted fans on to the fact tickets were set to go on sale for the June 2011 three-day event.

A message posted on their website over the weekend said: "Will U2 fans finally see 'Glastonbury' at Glasto?"

The message referred to a song, called 'Glastonbury', which the band had prepared especially for the show.

The band added in their post to fans: "Looking at the tour dates - there is a gap in the band's schedule ahead of the East Lansing show on June 26th which would make the Friday night a possibility."

The band's manager Paul McGuiness refused to confirm their headlining slot, but gave a strong indication they are likely to play.

He said: "We're certainly excited about our plans for next year. Watch this space."

Tickets for next year's Glastonbury festival - which takes place in Worthy Farm, Somerset, South West England - sold out within four hours on Sunday (03.10.10).

Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis recently confirmed all three headliners for next year have been booked, but refused to say who they are.

He said: "The headliners next year are absolutely fantastic - I can guarantee that. It'll be on a par with this year, and possibly slightly better even."
