Eddie Murphy - 'Twins' To Become 'Triplets'? Eddie Murphy Lined Up To Join Sequel
In a move that surely can't help but get his career back on track, Eddie Murphy is being strongly tipped to star in the mooted sequel to Danny Devito and Arnold Schwarzenegger's hilarious caper as the unlikely little and large brother duo in 'Twins.' In a role that's surely fail-proof for the much beleaguered actor, Murphy could star as the triplet - that's right, another highly incongruous sibling of the already comically mismatched brothers, we smell critical success for sure.
The Hollywood Reporter says that the film is definitely going to happen, with DeVito and Schwarzenegger both set to return, though apparently no director has been decided upon as yet - Ivan Reitman who directed the original will only be acting as a producer with his partners Montecito Picture Co. There's been little in the way of creative progression either, aside from the possible inclusion of Murphy, with writers apparently being scoped out and a view to release the film in 2014. The first film was released in 1988 off a modest budget of just $15 million but went on to take a whopping $216 million worldwide.
Murphy could sure do with a career break after a string of terrible, terrible movies. Once revered as a fine stand-up and comedic actor to boot in the 80s and into the 90s, the star's profile has taken a sharp nosedive, with latest flick 'A Thousand Words' recently getting panning by the critics ahead of a commercial flop upon release earlier this month.
