Twilight Wins Big At U.k. National Movie Awards

The TWILIGHT film franchise is the toast of the British box office after landing three top trophies at the National Movie Awards in London on Wednesday (26May10).

The Twilight sequel, New Moon, picked up the award for Best Fantasy, while star Robert Pattinson won the Best Performance honour.

Meanwhile the upcoming third film in the vampire love story franchise, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, landed the award for Most Anticipated Summer Movie.

The Harry Potter film franchise was a double winner at the event - sequel the Half-Blood Prince was named Best Family Movie, while series of movies were honoured with the Special Recognition Award. Pop star Kylie Minogue was on hand to pay tribute to Potter and his pals by introducing clips from six films.

Rupert Grint missed the ceremony due to illness, but co-star Emma Watson thanked fans, saying, "It's incredible you still love watching these films. We still love making them. Thank you so much."

Other big winners include Sherlock Holmes (Best Action Movie Thriller), The Time Traveler's Wife (Best Breakthrough Movie) and Tom Cruise who claimed the event's Screen Icon award.
