Twilight Stars Aim To Ambush Cannes Film Festival 2012
Twilight stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will both be competing for one of the most prestigious prizes in cinema at next month's Cannes Film Festival. Pattinson takes the lead role in David Cronenberg's 'Cosmopolis', while Stewart stars in the movie adaptation of the classic Beat Generation novel 'On The Road'.
Both movies are in the running for the festival's main honor the Palme d'Or, though they face stiff competition from Ken Loach's 'The Angels' Share' - a movie set in Glasgow which follows a small-time criminal who is introduced to the world of high-end whisky distilleries. Also competing will be 'The Paper Boy', starring John Cusack and Nicole Kidman, as well as 'Lawless', a prohibition-era tale about bootleggers in the American south. Brad Pitt is likely to be one of the biggest stars in attendance, following news that his latest movie 'Killing Them Softly' will have its premiere at the festival. The movie centers on the professional enforcer Jackie Cogan, who investigates a heist that went down during a mob-protected poker game.
Officials will be hoping the A-list attractions in 2012 will erase the memory of last year's festival, when Danish director Lars Von Trier was expelled for making Nazi related comments during a press conference.
