Twilight Star Robert Pattinson Signed Up For Breaking Dawnby Contributor | 20 May 2009
Robert Pattinson has confirmed there will be a fourth instalment in the Twilight film franchise, with Breaking Dawn to follow New Moon and Eclipse.
The 23-year-old actor was appearing at the Cannes Film Festival during a break in filming for New Moon, the second film based on Stephenie Meyer's hugely popular vampire novels.
Pattinson, who plays vampire Edward Cullen in box office smash Twilight, confirmed he will shortly complete filming on New Moon, before returning to Vancouver, Canada, in October to complete shooting Eclipse, based on Meyer's third novel.
And though the former Harry Potter actor was unable to confirm when producers Summit Entertainment would begin work on Breaking Dawn, he told the Hollywood Reporter he is committed to starring in the film alongside Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella Swan.
Pattinson also explained screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg had expanded upon his role for New Moon as in the source novel, Edward is "a voice in Bella's head".
"You're playing a figment in Bella's imagination so I was trying to do it in a 2D way," he added.
"I hope it doesn't translate onscreen as being boring."
The London-born star admitted he has found his newfound fame difficult to cope with since the release of Twilight last November.
"It is still strange," he explained.
"I just don't get the immediate-recognition thing. I was at Frankfurt airport yesterday, and people just immediately know who you are. It's never, 'Are you ...?' It's just like, 'Can I have a photo?'"
