Twilight Director Speaks Out: Is He Team Pattinson Or Stewart?

Director Bill Condon has spoken out for the first time since his lead stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson found themselves at the center of a media storm after the former admitted to a fling with the Snow White filmmaker Rupert Sanders. Those close to the pair have chosen to remain silent on the cheating scandal, though Condon appears to have decided the time is right to comment.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the director was quick to point out that the pair are human beings, and that human beings will inevitably face hardship throughout relationships. He mused, "The fact is, these are actors playing parts, and maybe it's not such a bad thing that people be reminded of that.Both of these actors gave heart and soul to the 'Twilight' movies, not only during shooting, but also by navigating so graciously the whole life-in-a-fishbowl aspect of the phenomenon". The couple have built a huge following over the past couple of years and some fans (especially on YouTube) directed their anger towards Stewart for what they deemed to be ruining one of the most popular Hollywood romances. However, Condon warned, "Above all they have always shown great respect for the fans who made these movies such a success. Now it's time that some of that respect be returned to them". Despite the director's wise words, speculation over the affair is reaching boiling point and all eyes will be on Pattinson as he makes two television appearances next week, on Good Morning America and Jon Stewart's Daily Show.

Stewart publically apologized for her indiscretion, saying in a statement, ".the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob," she said. "I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry". Pattinson is yet to comment publically, though was reportedly seen enjoying a couple of beers with friends at a bar in California last week.
