Twilight Author Halts Work On Sequel

TWILIGHT author STEPHENIE MEYER has abandoned writing the fifth installment of the popular vampire series - because she is too upset an unfinished manuscript of the book has leaked online. The writer was working on her novel Midnight Sun when the half-written story made its way onto the Internet.
And Meyer is so disheartened by the move, she has put down her pen and paper indefinitely.
Next to a posting of the leaked manuscript on her website, she writes, "I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, so it is on hold indefinitely.
"I'd rather my fans not read this version... the writing is messy and flawed and full of mistakes. But how do I comment on this violation without driving more people to look for the illegal posting?"
A representative for the writer confirms to the New York Daily News, "Nothing's changed. Stephenie has no plans to move forward with 'Midnight Sun' at this time."
Instead, Meyer has moved on to write another tale, unrelated to the Twilight series.
The spokesperson adds, "Stephenie is working on something else at the moment. But she hasn't announced it yet. It isn't 'Twilight'-related. When she's ready to reveal it, she will. This has been an intense three years for her, and currently she's just focusing on being a writer."
The first book in Meyer's vampire novels was turned into a big screen blockbuster last year (08), with the Robert Pattinson-starring movie grossing $337 million (£235.6 million) to date worldwide.

Does this not happen to everyone in this kind of industry... Its a shame that with "twilight" doing so well that one would not want to continue writing for her loyal fans! I, like alot of other people, have truely enjoyed reading the series and was waiting patiently for the 5th sequel.

This is such sad news for all of the Twilight fans. If we only had a way to convince her to begin again.....well, we can only hope for a change of heart!

This news came out last August. I thought, why let someone else dictate your life. She should finish the book. But I am not Stephenie Meyer, i don't know her thoughts or feelings. I wish her well. (still a fan)

This is very sad news, I dearly love the series and loved what little was posted by stephanie on her web site. The book from both Edwards and Bella's point of view was unique and really much more interesting to see from both sides. I was really hoping that eventually we would get all 4 books from both Edward and Bella's points of views. Don't give up Stephanie, we the fans will wait if we must but would really love to see more Twilight books for the future. Don't forget the Volturi could come back to pick off all the witnesses and there would stem a new adventure.

Ilove them and really am said to hear she will not do a 5th book I would love to know what happens to them all.I hopoe you will re think this and continue. I have a book I wrote but have not finished, and I would hate to have fans wondering about mine if I never finished the tale, if i was published and doing as good as this one is.. Please finish there story, it needs to be told...

are we in boot camp here, what, one cannot do fifty push ups so we all have to suffer. this is not fair to us. i say get over the temper tantrum and finish what you started and stop letting them get the best of you. steph wouldn't you give this same advice to your children at one point in their lives. you would not want someone to get the best of them ither, right. with all that you have givin to all of your readers especially the teens, is that the role model you want to let them see. because some idiot did something stupid and disrespectful your just going to give up. if you have not noticed these stories are not just in your head now, there in all of our heads and your just going to stop in the middle of one. i believe that edwards view of the books would be much more interesting than bella's. my eight year old daughter would love to see a book on alice alone , oh but wait i will have to tell her that you gave up. i think not. i am also thirty five and i would never let anyone get me down no matter what. i know you have other projects but you had half done. again finish what you started and let the idiots take a hike.

You don't have to search for the Midnight Sun manuscript online. Stephenie has the incomplete work posted on her website for all to read. An aside to Stephenie...get over it and finish the book! It is even better than Twilight.
