William Windom - Tv Regular William Windom Dies
Actor William Windom has passed away at the age of 88.
Windom died at his home in Woodacre, California last Thursday (16Aug12) after suffering congestive heart failure.
The star, probably best known for his roles in Star Trek and Murder, She Wrote, started his career in New York theatre, and starred in several Broadway productions during the 1950s.
He made his film debut as an attorney in To Kill a Mockingbird, and went on to star in other big screen projects The Americanization of Emily, Brewster MCCloud and She’s Having a Baby.
He moved into TV with The Farmer's Daughter before landing a role in the original Star Trek. He was a regular on Murder, She Wrote for a decade, playing Jessica Fletcher's pal, Dr. Seth Hazlitt until 1996.
Windom was also well known for his role as a congressman in The Twilight Zone. He won an Emmy for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his turn in sitcom My World and Welcome to It.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patricia, four children and four grandchildren.
