Cast and crewmembers from Tv shows including 24, The Following, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Perception and Brooklyn Nine-Nine have banded together to pay tribute to a camera assistant who lost her life on a movie set.
Sarah Jones, 27, was killed last week (ends23Feb14) when she was struck by a train while working on upcoming Allman Brothers biopic Midnight Rider. Seven other crewmembers were also hurt in the accident, which occurred while camera tests were being carried out.
Jones' family and friends set up a tribute in her honour on Facebook.com, and the page has since attracted a flood of support from a huge number of film crews. Many of the crew workers have set up special production slates bearing tributes to Jones, including staff working on Kevin Bacon's crime drama The Following, talk show Chelsea Lately, drama The Red Road, and reality Tv series Duck Dynasty.
Members of the lighting department on police comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine also painted a message honouring Jones on a rig and they posted a picture of the tribute on Facebook with the message, "To Sarah from set lighting on Brooklyn Nine Nine" while the team behind cop drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit pasted black tape over the police shields on their onset identity lanyards.
A picture of the crew's tribute was posted on the social networking website along with the message, "Today we pay our respects to a fellow crew member. Sarah Jones your family at Law & Order Svu black out our shields for you. May you rest in peace."
Staff working on Eric MCCormack's show have set up a donation bucket which is being handed around on set to raise money for a memorial fund in Jones' name.
Tributes have also come in from crews behind new period drama Turn, British James Bond project Moneypenny, and workers on projects from Argentina, Australia and France, as well as actor Kiefer Sutherland, who is currently filming the new series of 24 in London. He writes in a post on Twitter.com, "So sorry to hear of the tragic loss of Sarah Jones. Our broken hearts go out to her family and friends, from all of us on 24."
