Tv Bosses Cut Canal Death Scene After Stone Roses Tragedy

Bosses of U.K. soap opera Coronation Street have cut upcoming scenes referencing a dead body in a canal following the tragic death of a Stone Roses fan.

Christopher Brahney, 22, went missing after attending the first of three of the band's homecoming concerts in Manchester, England on 29 June (12), and police mounted an extensive search for the music lover.

They called off the hunt on Monday (09Jul12) after his body was found in the Manchester Ship Canal, and now Coronation Street producers have deleted scenes referencing a canal death tragedy in Friday's (13Jul12) episode out of respect for Brahney's family.

A spokesperson for the show, which is filmed in Manchester, tells Itv News: "The producers of Coronation Street have taken the decision to remove references in this Friday's show, which although scripted and filmed weeks ago, bore some similarities to the manner in which Christopher Brahney's body was found.

"Like many others, we were extremely saddened by the news of his death, and our thoughts and condolences are with his family."
