Tupac Shakur - Tupac Shakur Makes Holographic Appearance At Coachella 2012

The last night of this year's Coachella Festival turned out to be a memorable one, with a surprise 'appearance' from the late rapper Tupac Shakur. It was more of an apparition than an appearance, of course, as his presence was enabled by the science of the hologram. On the last night of the festival (April 15, 2012), the Tupac hologram performed 'Hail Mary,' the final single released from his final album The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory. He was then joined onstage by Snoop Dogg for a rendition of 'Gangsta Party.'
The hologram was introduced onstage after a tribute performance of his hit 'California Love,' to huge cheers from the crowd. Last week, it was reported that fellow rapper Nate Dogg would be the one immortalised in holographic form, though Fuse magazine confirmed that that particular appearance never took place. Instead, it was Tupac that Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre. decided to resurrect onstage for their headline slot.
Response to the holographic performance has been mixed. Katy Perry tweeted "I think I might have cried when I saw Tupac" whereas LAWeeklyMusic took a slightly different view on the occasion "This place just went silent. People are genuinely horrified by the Tupac hologram." Nonetheless, Fuse magazine described the headline set as an "epic" one from Dr Dre and Snoop.
