Tulisa Or Nicole? Who Won Fashion Stakes At X Factor Launch?

This year's X-Factor series is likely to contain a sub-competition: the fashion stakes between Tulisa Contostavlos and Nicole Scherzinger. The tussle got off to a fierce start at Thursday's launch in London, and it looks as though the former N Dubz singer may have sneaked it.

Flaunting her daring blonde hair, Tulisa donned a clingy halter-neck dress, adorned with green, yellow and purple stripes. She appeared to be basking in the attention of the photographers and managed to make her way down the red-carpet safely, despite her lofty silver platform shoes. Surprisingly, Nicole opted for a more muted look and wore a plain cream dress. It's likely that the 'competition' will heat up once the X Factor premieres this weekend, and especially when it moves into its latter live rounds. Cheryl Cole famously had an epic fashion tussle with Dannii Minogue during the pair's tenure on the show, and we expect to see something similar this time round. Tulisa is likely to mimic Cheryl's penchant for clingy dresses and high heels, while Nicole's style resembles Minogue's more mature look.

The judges were joined by Louis Walsh and hosts DERMOT O'LEARY and Caroline Flack at Thursday's launch, though Gary Barlow was understandably absent in light of his recent family tragedy.
