Tulisa Contostavlos - Tulisa Contostavlos Defends Album Flop

25 January 2013

The former N-Dubz singer released her debut disc, The Female Boss, in December (12) but sales were slow and the record entered the U.K. album chart at a disappointing number 35.

The Female Boss sold just 15,000 copies in its first seven days of release, and dropped out of the top 40 chart a week later. The record was also bombarded with negative reviews, with one music critic, Robert Heller of Britain's Metro newspaper, comparing the music to "(A Nightmare on Elm Street villain) Freddy Krueger scratching an infinite blackboard".

Contostavlos, who is a judge on Britain's The X Factor, has now spoken out about the record's poor performance, insisting she was "happy" with the quality of her work.

She tells MTV.co.uk, "I'm really happy with the album. I'm happy with the response I got from my fans, they all seemed to really enjoy it and that's all that matters."
