With this year's X Factor auditions under way, it looks as though Simon Cowell might need to get his judges on a conference call to remind them what the show's all about. Tulisa Contostavlos - returning to the role again after last year's debut and Nicole Scherzinger - who has just landed herself a permanent role in the judge's chair - seem to have forgotten that the competition is supposed to be between the singers. not between them and their wardrobe assistants.

Both Tulisa and Nicole have been pictured on The Sun's website today (June 25, 2012), at the Motorpoint Arena, looking as though they are staging a battle of the bodycon dress. Tulisa and Nicole both turned up to auditions in tight, cleavage revealing dresses and towering heels. Tulisa had opted for a blue and white striped Karen Millen dress, which she topped off with a pair of cream and blue tassled stilettos. Never half-baked in her attempts to convince viewers that she's a classy 23 year-old former member of N Dubz, she wore her hair in sweeping, 1960s style up-do. Scherzinger, on the other hand went for an eye-catching yellow dress number, a figure hugging number that she finished off with metallic silver heels.

Louis Walsh, who never seems to win the actual singing contest, has clearly opted out of the style battle as well. He managed to get a smart jacket and shirt on but gave up when it came to the bottom half, opting for jeans and trainers.
