Donald Trump - Trump Keen To Take Over The Tavern

The struggling restaurant, which was once a hang-out for the Big Apple's biggest celebrities, was forced to close a year ago (Jan10) and it has remained shuttered ever since.

But now Trump has big plans for the old Central Park tourist haunt - he wants to pump $20 million (£13.3 million) into the place and re-hire 500 workers who were laid off when the Tavern closed.

Trump has told the New York Post he's hoping to re-open the Tavern and restore it to its former glory as "a gift for the city".

Officials have yet to sign off on the deal, but Trump is expected to be given the green light to revamp the site.
