Green, who has produced more than a dozen major movies including Salvador and the critically-acclaimed Rescue Dawn, and his wife will stand trial next month (Feb08) and they both face up to 35 years in prison if they are convicted.
The 75-year-old and his wife, 52, were arrested at Los Angeles International airport last month (18Dec07) after arriving on a flight from Thailand. The couple were charged with paying more than $1.7 million (GBP850,000) in bribes to an unnamed senior Thai government official - to secure the lucrative festival contract - and others worth more than $10 million (GBP5 million), according to a statement from the U.S. Justice Department.
The Greens own Film Festival Management, a Los Angeles-based company formed in 2003 to bid for the contract to run Bangkok's annual film festival.
A trial date has been set for 26 February (08).
