Travis Barker Released From Hospital After Plane Crash

by | 01 October 2008

Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker has been released from hospital just over a week after a plane crash that left four people dead.

Barker and DJ Adam Goldstein - who performs as DJ AM - were left with second- and third-degree burns after the Learjet in which they were travelling crashed into a road while trying to take off, leaving its pilot, co-pilot and two of Barker's staff dead.

Goldstein, a former boyfriend of Nicole Richie, left a Georgia hospital on Saturday September 27th, and Barker has also now been discharged.

Barker and Goldstein had performed a free concert in Columbia, South Carolina under the name TRVSDJ-AM and were en route to California when the crash occurred.

A spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration said earlier this week that air traffic controllers reported seeing sparks coming off the aircraft as it attempted to leave the runway.

And according to Debbie Hersman, of the National Transportation Safety Board, a cockpit voice recording suggests that the plane's crew may have tried to abort take-off having heard a probable tyre blowout.

Barker and Goldstein were the only survivors of the crash which led to the deaths of pilot, Sarah Lemmon, 31; co-pilot, James Bland, 52; Barker's assistant, Chris Baker, 29, and Charles Still, 25, Barker's security guard.

According to South Carolina police lieutenant Josh Shumpert, Barker and Goldstein were forced to slide down the right wing of the crashed aircraft to escape the blaze.

Sources say Barker's ex-wife Shanna Moakler, mother to his son Landon and daughter Alabama, had remained at his bedside since the crash.
