Travie McCoy has been arrested for spraying graffiti on the Berlin Wall.

The Gym Class Heroes star was taken into custody by German officers in the country's capital last night (27.10.10) after they witnessed him tag one of the few remaining parts of the historic wall.

Posting a photo of his illegal handy work on his twitter page, he wrote: "Told you!!! Had to do it, blame it on the devil, everyone else does!"

The 29-year-old 'Billionaire' singer had pre-planned his artwork, first posting a picture of him next to the wall with a tweet reading: "The Berlin wall. I'm def gettin up on this before we leave tonight!!!"

The heavily tattooed singer then spent about an hour on his artwork outside of the city's East Side Gallery, penning a 'tag' - a symbol of his name, to mark he had been there - in bubbled lettering on an already graffiti-heavy section of the wall.

Travie - who earlier in the night performed at the city's Magnet Club - was taken into custody, but later released on 1,500 Euros bail.

The Berlin wall - which was erected in 1961 in the then divided city, cutting off the Western side of the city from the Soviet controlled Eastern side -is listed as a historical monument, and posting graffiti on it could carry a jail term of up to three years, although the charge is decided by a judge, and in most cases only a fine is given.

In the 70s and 80s people on the western side were allowed to graffiti the wall in protest at its existence, but laws on graffiti in the city have been revised since it was torn down in 1989.

The singer is set to perform in Amsterdam tonight.
