Trace Cyrus - Trace Cyrus And Brenda Song Split, Engagement Is Over
Trace Cyrus and Brenda Song have called off their engagement and separated, the New York Daily News have revealed today (June 12, 2012). Trace - son to Billy Ray Cyrus and brother to Miley Cyrus - confirmed the news, explaining that he and Brenda are still friends, but work commitments got in the way of them maintaining their relationship together.
"Brenda and I have decided to go our separate ways," the 23-year-old revealed. "We split up a couple of months ago. We will continue to focus on our careers." Trace performs as the lead singer of the band Metro Station, using the alias Ashland High. Brenda is an actress and starred opposite Andrew Garfield in The Social Network. In his statement, Trace added "I wish Brenda the best and much success in the future. I hope everyone can respect our privacy about this situation. Thanks so much." Trace and Brenda got engaged last year, in October, with Trace insisting that they were not rushing into their nuptials. "When I asked her (to marry me), I told her, 'I don't care if we get married tomorrow, two weeks from now, a year from now or 10 years from now; it doesn't matter," he explained at the time.
When news of their engagement broke, rumours emerged that Brenda was pregnant with their child. Her mother - who was suffering from cancer at the time - slammed the claims angrily in the press, saying that the revelations were "very upsetting to our family because of what I'm going through and it's not how we raised her." With Trace and Brenda now split, it looks as though all eyes are on Miley for a Cyrus wedding.
