Top Agent Calls For Hollywood To Boycott Gibson Projects

Heavyweight movie agent ARI EMANUEL has joined the campaign urging Hollywood's top producers to boycott projects involving MEL GIBSON after the alleged anti-Semitic remarks he made during a Friday night (28JUL06) arrest for drink driving. According to reports, Gibson told his arresting officer, "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world." He then asked the deputy, "Are you a Jew?" Gibson issued an apology on Saturday (29JUL06) and a retraction of his remarks, which were reportedly captured on tape, but his comments were too much for officials at the US Jewish Anti-Defamation League, who called for Gibson should be ostracised by his peers. And now super-agent Emanuel is weighing in on the controversy, calling on his peers to turn loose-lipped Gibson into a Hollywood outcast. In a statement released yesterday (31JUL06), Emanuel fumed, "People in the entertainment community, whether Jew of gentile, need to demonstrate that they understand how much is at stake in this by professionally shunning Mel Gibson, and refuse to work with him, even if it means a sacrifice to their bottom line. "It is one thing when marginal figures with no credibility make anti-Semitic statements, it is a completely different thing when a figure of Mel Gibson's stature does so." The shamed star's planned TV series based on the Holocaust is also facing the axe as a result of his allegedly anti-Semitic remarks.

Yeah, he made a huge mistake and knowing peoples nature, it will probably ruin him, in a way that was bound to happen sooner or later. We all know he’s an alcohol addict. You never recover from that illness. You have to fight it constantly. And it only takes a bad day and a couple of beers/tequila to drag you from fame to ‘bad guy’ as it seems.I don’t think he’s a bad guy. I think fame costs. He's living in a glass house. People wanting your autograph but if you make a mistake, they crucify him instantly and with devilish pleasure.I really hope this incident (and that is what is really was!) won’t bankrupt him emotionally and that people realize that he’s just human and that we do all make mistakes. We all say stupid things when we are drunk, we don’t think clearly when we drink liquor and perhaps he had to swallow some major insults(AGAIN)about his movie “The Passion” that evening, who knows. A movie he (and only he) dared to make. A movie which made him vulnerable in many different ways. He showed his honest believes to the world. And it is (imho) just BECAUSE he made that movie he is being punished double now and people want to see him in the gutter.Let’s just suppose he really is a jewhater (which I do not believe to be so) he will be punished by his own God for it and it’s not our job to throw stones. He has to figure it out with his God and I think he's his own biggest enemy, and that is the most difficult war there is.Sure, he in his position shouldn’t make remarks like that, I agree. But when even The President of the USA can have sex in the oval room and lie to the entire world (don’t get me wrong, I like him too) without having to leave The Whitehouse , I think what Mel Gibson is facing now: crowds wanting his blood, is way too heavy.I am appalled to read weblogs and columns in newspapers that incite we all should boycott him. Who are they to shout such messages. I think (sober) people who do so are a great deal worse than the (drunk) mistake Mel Gibson made. He was drunk then, we can react sober. Let’s please act that way. Let’s not lose this great creative man.(And yes I know this was a very long reply, I’m sorry for that and yes I am a FAN.)
