Tonya Harding - Tonya Harding Welcomes First Child At 40
25 February 2011TONYA HARDING, the former figure skating champion, has welcomed her first child with husband JOSEPH JENS PRICE, reports US Weekly Magazine. The disgraced figure skater, who married husband Price last summer, gave birth in her native Washington on Saturday (19th February 2011). Harding gained notoriety in 1994 after it emerged that she had been involved in a brutal attack on her skating rival Nancy Kerrigan. The highly publicised assault took place during Kerrigan's practise session for the 1994 U.S Figure Skating Championships in Detroit. Harding's then husband JEFF GILLOOLY and her bodyguard SHAWN ECKARDT hired SHANE STANT to break Kerrigan's right leg. Stant struck the skater a few inches above the knee with a police baton. Harding went on to win the event but she was later banned by the sport's governing body after admitting her involvement in the attack.
The couple's friend Don Horn told 'The Oregonian' newspaper that the birth was a success, adding, "Everybody's happy and healthy. She's always wanted a baby. She was told she could never have a child ... and guess what? It really is a miracle and she really is very happy". In recent years TONYA HARDING has attempted to forge a career in professional boxing and her record currently stands at three wins and three losses.
