Tony Scott's Family Attend Private Memorial As Trust Fund Opens
"He was on the roadway close to the fence looking around. He was looking around and fumbling with something at his feet. He looked nervous," witness David Silva said in an interview with The Los Angeles Times. "I thought it was some extreme-sports guy." There was a suicide note left by the director, but it has not been made public what was said in it.
Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter writes that Scott's family have asked that, instead of mourners buying flowers, they put their money in to the American Film Institute. The family have founded the Tony Scott Scholarship Fund at the Institute and hope that the money will encourage, support and inspire the next generation of film makers, all of whom will have a tough task to match some of the late star's finest work, including cult classic Top Gun. Scott is survived by a wife and two preteen sons.
