Tony Iommi Completes Chemotherapy Treatment
The 64-year-old Black Sabbath guitarist is now preparing to begin a course of radiation therapy in an effort to fight the disease, which is a cancer of the white blood cells.
In an update on his website, Iommi writes, "I've had the last dose of chemotherapy so hopefully my body will start to get back to normal soon, the steroids were the worse (sic). I've now got three weeks of radiotherapy coming up which I'm told can be very tiring so we'll see."
The rocker went on to thank his Black Sabbath bandmates Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler for relocating to the U.K. so they could work on their upcoming summer comeback while he was in hospital.
He adds, "A big thanks to Ozzy and Geezer for coming over to England, it was a big incentive for me, we managed to work most days and have some great new tracks. And, importantly thanks again (to fans) for your kind messages, hope to be seeing you soon."
The reunited rockers are scheduled to headline Britain's Download Festival in June (12).
