Tom Jones - Tom Jones: Appreciative At 70

Tom Jones appreciates different types of music now he has turned 70.

The Welsh singer - who reached the landmark age on June 7, and released his latest album 'Praise and Blame' today (26.07.10) - admits growing older has benefitted his career enormously.

He said: "Getting to this age has its ups. You learn to appreciate different forms of music. You can't really put an old head on young shoulders. You have got to go through life experiencing things."

The 'Sex Bomb' hitmaker loves reaching 70, and is convinced his age has little impact on his life - apart from making him a little "slower".

He explained to the dailyrecord.co.uk: "I was looking forward to hitting 70 in June. To have reached that age is fantastic. I don't feel it. My health is good and I'm doing great. I might be a little slower than when I was younger but things haven't changed that much."

Tom's highly-anticipated LP - his first since he quit EMI for Island Records last year - contains his latest track 'Burning Hell', a cover of a John Lee Hooker single.

The record was in the news ahead of its release, when an email from a music exec David Sharpe describing it as a "sick joke" was leaked to the press.

But Tom is thrilled with the end result, saying: "I'm knocked out with the record. It was a lot of fun to make. It was a fantastic experience and turned out even better than I expected. I'm thrilled with the album."
