Tom Hiddleston had to be ''bloodied'' to play King Henry V.
The British actor - who will next be seen in the role of Loki in the forthcoming 'Avengers Assemble' movie - plays the former monarch who went to France with a small band of men and beat The Enemy at the Battle of Agincourt, and executive producer of the Shakespeare adaptation Pippa Cross confesses they wanted to show all sides of the royal.
She said: ''We wanted Tom all bloodied like a real warrior. This has to work For Today's audiences and you've got to show war in all its horror, as well as the pageantry.''
Commenting on the role, Tom revealed he was delighted to land it as it showed ''going big'' and being bold will often reap rewards.
He said: ''He was completely outnumbered on foreign turf. His men were wounded, exhausted, starving, while the French were well fed and well kept.
''But Henry takes the riskiest decision of his life and decided to attack. It was go big or go home. Go big won the day.''
