Tom Cruise's Oblivion Opens At Number One On Australian Box Office

Tom Cruise has a new film out, and as is so often the case with any new Tommy C film, critics and audience are split right down the middle in terms of who likes it and who thinks otherwise. Oblivion is no different to the majority of his last crop of films, however given the box office reception the film is getting in Australia Cruise might not have to worry too much about the film making it's money back.

Over the weekend the film scooped up $3.3 million to take the top spot at the Aussie box office, something that bodes well for the film's USA release this coming weekend (April 19) where it will hopefully be able to recuperate some of it's $120,000,000 budget. The film, set on a post-apocalyptic Earth, sees veteran Cruise return to the planet to extract the remaining resources left in the planet and once there he begins to question what he knows about the mission and himself. Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko and Game of Throne's resident King slayer Nikolaj Coster-Waldau also star in the film.

In the run up to the film's US release, Cruise has been on the campaign trail to whip up support from the home fans. His appearance on Jimmy Fallon last week didn't go as planned though and Cruise left with egg on his face. Egg on his face literally that is, as the star faced off with Fallon for an egg-based game of Russian Roulette. The premise of the game is simple, the two were given 12 eggs, 8 of which were hard boiled, four were not, the aim was to smash to an egg on each others head until an uncooked one was found. Tom found the uncooked one.
