Tom Cruise Heads Tributes To 'Visionary' Tony Scott

The tragic news of director Tony Scott 's death on Sunday has been met with sadness by the people he works with. Tom Cruise leads the tributes for the late Hollywood star, and they continue to flow, reports the Bbc.

"He was a creative visionary whose mark on film is immeasurable," said Cruise, who had enjoyed a considerable working relationship with Scott, after starring in his 1986 air-combat classic, Top Gun. They also worked together on Days of Thunder. Another man close with Scott was Denzel Washington, the pair having worked together on five films. "Tony Scott was a great director, a genuine friend and it is unfathomable to think that he is now gone," said the Academy Award winning actor. "He had a tremendous passion for life and for the art of film-making and was able to share this passion with all of us through his cinematic brilliance" Early reports indicated that Scott's suicide was motivated by a suspected brain tumour, but those rumours now appear to be in doubt. "According to the family, to their knowledge, he did not have any issues with any cancers," Los Angeles Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter told reporters.

The loss of Tony Scott has shocked Hollywood, and tributes to his character continue to accumulate, but it is of his impressive catalogue of films that his contemporaries are remembering him by."True Romance (written by Tarantino) did not receive the recognition it so rightly deserved (one of the decade's best films)," tweeted Michael Moore. "The scene with Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper in a Detroit railyard is a classic."
