Time To Dust Off The Myspace Account: Justin Timberlake’s Re-Design Goes Live!

Remember Myspace? Well, it still exists. And it’s all shiny and new thanks to Justin Timberlake and his team of developers. MySpace 2.0 boasts a new modern looking interface that works seamlessly with Google Plus and Pinterest – it’s all a far cry from the garish, cluttered design from a couple of years back.

Though the last thing web users need is another outlet for their pointless status’ and pictures, MySpace could rise from the ashes if the “creative types” that co-owner Tim Vanderhook is targeting, jump aboard. He told the Hollywood Reporter, “In a single sentence, it’s a social network for the creative community to connect to their fans…We’re going after artists”. Timberlake and Specific Media Group jointly purchased the company for approximately $35 million in 2011, after the number of its users had steadily declined. Before that, it was purchased by News Corp for $580 million and generated $800 million during the 2008 fiscal year. A new Vimeo clip of how Myspace 2.0 will work certainly looks appealing, and Twitter reaction to the redesign has been almost entirely positive. Anthony De Rosa said, “The new Myspace looks awesome. I'm not even kidding,” while Tyler James – a former contestant on The Voice UK – said, “New look Myspace looks pretty sick!”

Whether Timberlake and his gang can live in a social media world dominated by Facebook and Twitter remains to be seen, but they’re certainly making the right moves.
